Exactly! The Turks really were trying, and they just didn't make it in time, and Zack's body was just horribly mangled... 8'( And the kid with him disappeared.

Or, in this case, the poor Shinra guard who never had a chance was just brutally murdered.

It's just such a huge blow as a mission failure. Zack was such a good guy, despite every other problem in SOLDIER.

Yep. 8( I mean, I guess killing Sephiroth (temporarily) is a pretty good last stand, but yes. Nothing as impressive as Zack's. P: Zack was really the best of them.
